AGNMAK signs up as Official Auditors for the Middle East Logistics Awards
September 12, 2006, Dubai, UAE
AGNMAK, a well-known international audit firm, sealed an agreement today as the Official Auditors for nominations and votes of the MELA Excellence Awards 2006. Dubbed as the first annual Middle East Logistics Awards (MELA), the momentous event - organised and managed by Media One Group - is slated for November 21, 2006, in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE. These awards aim to foster a healthy competition among equals in the dynamic and competitive logistics industry.
Dr Khalid Maniar, Founder and Managing Partner, AGNMAK, is elated in coming in as the auditors for the prestigious MELA Awards. "AGNMAK is honoured to have been given the task and responsibility to ensure that the nominations and votes cast in the first annual Middle East Logistics Awards will be fair and impartial. We believe that this is a great event. This is the first time that the entire logistics industry in the Middle East region will outdo on the basis of excellence in their field. We have done the Dubai Quality Awards as their assessors and we will bring the same level of reliability and expertise in the MELA Awards," says Dr Maniar.
Emphasising the significance of the MELA Excellence Awards in integrating the logistics industry in the Middle East, Rashid Al Jaflah, Chairman, Media One Group, notes, "The first annual Middle East Logistics Awards being organised by Media One Group will create an all-encompassing platform for networking among the logistics industry players in the region. This unique event will emerge as a unifying factor for the entire Middle East logistics industry. Our partnership with AGNMAK will give the essential credibility to the MELA nomination and voting processes. Our endeavour is to inculcate the spirit of healthy competition for performance excellence amongst the logistics industry organisations and professionals in the Middle East."
Dr Satish Mapara, Shipping and Legal Consultant, GlobeApex Management Consultants, Dubai, and Member of the MELA Advisory Board and the Consultative Committee of Supply Chain and Logistics Group, Dubai, as well as the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, USA, opines that AGNMAK's association with MELA brings absolute trust, integrity and honesty to the event. "AGNMAK is a respected leader in its field. Its extensive knowledge of the Middle East region apart from their excellent track record and expertise make it the best choice for the evaluative auditing of the nomination and independent but neutral voting processes of the inaugural Middle East Logistics Awards," Dr Mapara remarks.
"In fact, each Middle East location is expected to declare their nominations for the 29 logistics awards. From the audited nomination results, the logistics industry will adjudge by the voting process, the organisations and individuals who have made the best performance in each category of the awards," adds Dr Mapara.
Aleem Aziz, Chief Executive Officer, MELA Management Office, observed that with AGN MAK onboard, the best systems and procedures for nominations and voting are in place, ensuring a neutral and unbiased adjudging of MELA award winners. Mr Aziz comments, "No names will be suggested by the MELA organisers to the industry for nomination but instead, the industry's nominations will determine the names of contenders in the voting process. In this way, the MELA awards will define what the logistics industry looks up to as a benchmark of excellence in its field."
AGNMAK is associated with the Accountants Global Network, involving 500 offices of accounting and consulting firms in over 80 countries worldwide. AGNMAK has been in the United Arab Emirates for more than two decades now. It has a comprehensive portfolio in auditing, management consultancy and structured business support services and has emerged as one of the top ten multidisciplinary practices in the region.
Respected leaders in the logistics industry have extended their support to the MELA Awards 2006 that will set the benchmark of excellence in the Middle East logistics industry. Juan Torrents, President of the World Federation of Free Zones (FEMOZA), Dr Satish Mapara, Shipping and Legal Consultant, GlobeApex Management Consultants, and Varun Sharma, Head of Logistics, Maritime and Mercantile International, have joined the MELA Advisory Board. Mike Lee, General Manager, Global Shipping & Logistics, Al Shirawi Group of Companies, and President, Supply Chain & Logistics Group, and Prakash Nair, Manager - Network, Cargo Sales Development, Emirates, have come in as Members of the MELA Executive Board. Earlier, Emirates Advocates and Legal Consultants have come onboard as Official Legal Services Provider for the event.
The MELA award winners will be determined in a two-phase process. The first phase is the nomination of choices for 29 award categories covering the entire gamut of the logistics industry - air, land, sea and rail - in the Middle East region. The deadline for nomination is on September 21, 2006. Nominations can be done online through the MELA website, www.mela.ae or by filling in the nomination form distributed in newspapers, and business and trade magazines. Nomination forms can be submitted through fax or post. The nomination is to be followed by the voting process. The deadline for casting of votes will be on October 21, 2006.
